Access to clean and sufficient water is a fundamental human right, yet many communities around the world still struggle to secure this vital resource. At ODP, we are committed to making a difference through our Hayat Project, in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP). This initiative aims to enhance water security in southern Libya, where access to clean water is critical for health, agriculture, and overall community well-being.
What is the Hayat Project?
The Hayat Project focuses on the installation and rehabilitation of water desalination units and solar energy systems for wells across five municipalities in southern Libya: Ubari, Ghat, Tahala, and Alberkit. By integrating renewable energy solutions, we aim to provide sustainable and reliable access to water for over 30,000 individuals.
Key Components of the Project
- Water Desalination Units: These units are essential for converting saline water into clean, potable water. By rehabilitating existing units and installing new ones, we can significantly improve water quality and availability.
- Solar Energy Systems: Harnessing solar energy for water pumping systems not only reduces reliance on fossil fuels but also ensures that these systems remain operational even in remote areas. This renewable energy approach is both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
Stay Tuned!
