Overview:
TAWAFUQ is a 24-month initiative led by the Organization for Development Pioneers (ODP) in partnership with Ifrikya Center for Common Ground (ICCG) and Helpcode. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of youth and women in conflict-affected communities in Libya (Al-Kufra and Al-Zawiya) and Tunisia (Tunis and Medenine) to actively participate in conflict prevention and peacebuilding efforts. By fostering collaboration, dialogue, and creative expression, TAWAFUQ seeks to build resilient and inclusive communities.

Key Objectives:

  1. Strengthen Civil Society: Enhance the capacity of local CSOs/CBOs to lead conflict transformation and peacebuilding initiatives.

  2. Promote Community Dialogue: Facilitate inclusive dialogues to address root causes of conflict and foster trust among diverse groups.

  3. Amplify Peace Narratives: Support youth-led artistic campaigns to promote messages of peace, tolerance, and social cohesion.

Target Groups:

  • Civil society organizations (CSOs) and community-based organizations (CBOs).

  • Youth and women leaders.

  • Vulnerable communities, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and marginalized groups.

  • Government and security actors.

Approach:

  • Capacity-building workshops on conflict sensitivity, gender inclusion, and peacebuilding methodologies.

  • Community-led dialogue sessions and joint initiatives to address local grievances.

  • Youth-driven artistic productions (films, music, visual arts) to spread messages of unity.

  • Cross-border exchanges to share experiences and foster regional solidarity.

Impact:
TAWAFUQ will directly engage over 20,000 beneficiaries, creating safer, more inclusive spaces where youth and women are recognized as key drivers of peace. By addressing the root causes of conflict and amplifying local voices, the project contributes to lasting stability in Libya and Tunisia.

  1. Empowered Youth and Women: Enhanced skills and leadership roles for youth and women in peacebuilding processes.

  2. Stronger Local Networks: Improved collaboration between communities, CSOs, and authorities to address shared challenges.

  3. Positive Social Change: Increased awareness and adoption of peaceful conflict resolution practices through art, media, and dialogue.

  4. Sustainable Peacebuilding: Long-term resilience against violent extremism and polarization in target regions.
